GALLERY KOGUREは、立体作家・中屋明子（なかや あきこ）の初個展を開催いたします。成熟したイノセンスをテーマに制作する中屋。私たちは純真無垢な状態で生まれ、外の環境と関わることによって様々なことを覚え、成熟していきます。しかし、何にも染まらず、無垢なまま成長を遂げた者たちはどうなるのでしょうか？中屋は、無垢と成熟という相反する要素を同居させた存在を、一糸まとわぬ姿であらわにしてみせます。彼らは、苦難や快楽を超え、まるで悟りの境地にいたったかのような穏やかさを持つと同時に、何かが欠落した虚ろな表情をたたえています。
一方で新作「吉兆の鳥がやってきた」は、感情の読み取れない表現から一転し、中屋の次のステージが垣間見える作品となっています。また、今まで乳白色を基調としてきたものから、彼女が持つ色彩感覚が発揮されたカラーリングに挑戦しています。
現実離れしたユニークな表情や身体の造形、透き通るような肌の表現は卓越しており、他に類を見ません。おおらかで、思わずくすりとしてしまう怪しさとユーモアを併せ持った作品は、満ち足りた人生とはいかなるものか、それぞれが何を求めるのかを問いかけると共に、有象無象に囚われ翻弄される私たちの滑稽で愛しい生を再確認させてくれます。
本展では、肌質、細部の造形を丁寧に作り込んだ立体作品を4点、オリジナルフィギュア、フィルム写真を展示します。唯一無二の立体作家・中屋明子の初個展をぜひご高覧ください。

GALLERY KOGURE is pleased to announce the debut solo exhibition of sculptor Akiko Nakaya. Nakaya’s works explore the theme of ‘mature innocence.’ We are born in a state of pure innocence and, through our interactions with the environment, we learn and mature. But what happens to those who grow up without losing their innocence? Nakaya presents beings that embody the contradictory elements of purity and maturity in a state of complete nudity. These figures possess a serenity that suggests they have transcended hardship and pleasure, while also displaying a hollow expression, as if something essential is missing.
In contrast, her new work “The Auspicious Bird Has Arrived” marks a departure from her previous emotionally ambiguous expressions, hinting at the next stage of Nakaya’s artistic journey. She also ventures into vibrant colors, moving away from her characteristic milky white palette, showcasing her sense of color.
Nakaya’s creations feature unique expressions and body shapes, with translucent skin that is exquisitely rendered, making her work unparalleled. Her pieces combine a whimsical charm and humor that question what a fulfilled life truly is and what we each seek. They also encourage us to reflect on our own absurd yet endearing lives, buffeted by myriad concerns.
This exhibition will feature four meticulously crafted sculptures, original figures, and film photographs. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience the unique world of Akiko Nakaya at her first solo exhibition.
