Simultaneous Exhibition Wataru Ito –The Behavior of Lines– @Kanazawa Mercury Cave 1F
Lotta「Between Dream and Reality」を開催いたします。
(GALLERY KOGURE)
(Lotta)

GALLERY KOGURE is pleased to present “Between Dream and Reality”, a solo exhibition by Lotta, at Kanazawa Mercury Cave.
Lotta has been presenting works that read like stories, with Socks the ghost cat as the protagonist. Together, they take viewers on journeys to various worlds. While Socks is the main character, there is also a sense of loneliness that surrounds them. Sometimes they interact with people in the places they visit, and at other times, they stand alone, quietly. The destination of their endless search for a place to belong is uncertain—whether it leads to the past, the future, dreams, or reality.
Lotta’s work spans a variety of mediums, including flat artworks, shaped canvases, and sculptures. In all of her pieces, she aims to create works that not only decorate a space but also stir the heart each time they are viewed, filled with a sense of narrative. Just as Socks has a story, each of us has our own, equally warm and meaningful story. This exhibition invites you to experience that sense of connection. We warmly encourage you to take a look. (GALLERY KOGURE)
This exhibition expresses the “border between dreams and reality” using both animated-style and realistic artwork, based on a part of the story I have been conceptualizing for a long time.
As I continue my journey as a painter, I have come to desire creating works that do not simply serve as consumable images, but rather stir the viewer’s imagination, subtly shifting their mood in a positive direction, and encouraging thought. This exhibition marks the first chapter of this challenge.
Is the world that the ghost cat “Socks” visits a dream or reality? The title of the works, the objects depicted, the colors that frequently appear, who he is, who she is, what they are doing, and who—or what—Socks really is… everything is shrouded in mystery.
I would be delighted if you could take your time to view the works while searching for your own answers.
And when, someday, the characters, places, or moments reappear, I would feel truly fulfilled if you think, “How nostalgic!” or “That’s from back then!”(Lotta)
