We are pleased to present a solo exhibition by Tadashi Kashiwada.

Kashiwada creates deeply layered and emotionally rich paintings influenced by Western Realism, Surrealism, and Expressionism from the late 19th to 20th centuries.

He approaches painting with sincerity, delving into the human psyche through his unique and tranquil style. The figures he portrays—softly and mysteriously rendered—stand quietly in their natural state, subtly expressing a range of emotions such as joy, sorrow, and surprise. His works often appear deeply introspective, while at times they seem to gaze back at the viewer, silently communicating something beyond words.

Kashiwada captures the vague, indescribable emotions that all people, at a fundamental level, carry within them—emotions too delicate to articulate, like mist that disappears when we try to grasp it. These feelings, though difficult to define, are an essential part of being human. When confronted with something that stirs the heart, we may catch a glimpse of our most honest and unguarded selves.

In this exhibition—Kashiwada’s first solo show at GALLERY KOGURE—we will feature a selection of his recent and new works. We invite you to experience these quiet paintings that speak beyond language.
